Bamberg is one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Germany and for good reasons a UNESCO World Heritage. It is also known as "the Rome of the North" with impressive churches showing you the great variety of architecture styles through the centuries. The View from St. Michael's church to the cosy half timbered houses along the river (the locals call it "little Venice") is unforgettable. Besides that Bamberg is famous for a unique drink, the smoked beer (imagine a beer with a taste of ham). Just outside the city you can visit Buttenheim, hometown of Levi Strauss.
