Tour Summary
Martin Luther definitely changed the world. He was born 1483 and died 1546 in Eisleben, Thuringia, and he spent most of his life in this area in the center of Germany. Important stations were Wittenberg, where he published his 95 theses and Wartburg Castle, where he translated the New Testament into German. Take a trip back to the late Middle Ages into a time when Protestantism restricted the power of the Pope and the Catholic Church and other massive changes, like the invention of the book printing press by J. Gutenberg or the discovery of a new world, America, by Columbus widened the perspective of people. Today, there are about 800 Million Protestants in the world and about one third of all Germans are Lutherans Luther was one of the most influential persons in world history.
By the way, 2017 is the 500th anniversary of the 95 theses (they were posted October 31, 1517), maybe a good reason for this TooT-Theme tour!!
